Why Circle of Care?
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or (OTA) to join our team in providing high-quality occupational therapy services to pediatric patients in a home health setting. Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT), the OTA will play a vital role in enhancing patients' independence and daily living skills through individualized care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in Treatment Implementation: Collaborate with the supervising OT to design and implement engaging, goal-oriented occupational therapy activities tailored to each patient's needs.
- Document Patient Care: Accurately document treatment types and patient responses in clinical notes on the day of each visit, ensuring timely integration into patient records for consistency and quality care.
- Maintain Patient Records: Keep organized, detailed patient records, including progress summaries, to support effective ongoing care.
- Utilize Community Resources: Leverage community resources and agency personnel to make appropriate referrals that enhance patient support and treatment outcomes.
- Receive Supervision from Licensed OT: Work under the guidance of a licensed Occupational Therapist, following state guidelines for OT assistants.
- Engage in Case Conferences: Actively participate in case conferences to discuss patient progress and collaborate on treatment strategies with the healthcare team.
- Invest in Professional Development: Attend agency-led training sessions and in-service education to stay updated on best practices and innovative therapeutic techniques.
- Coordinate Patient Visits: Confirm weekly visit schedules with the Area Support Manager (ASM) and supervising OT to ensure well-coordinated patient care.
- Communicate Availability: Notify the agency promptly of any absences due to illness, emergencies, or professional obligations to maintain reliable service delivery.
- Support Discharge Planning: Collaborate with the OT, patients, and physicians to facilitate smooth discharge planning, meeting both agency policies and patient needs.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy Assistance or equivalent.
- Licensure: Active Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) license in Texas.
- Preferred: One year of supervised experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in pediatrics or home health.
