Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to pediatric patients (birth to age 20) in the implementation of their occupational therapy treatment plans within a home health setting.
  • Assist in assessing pediatric patients' needs and tracking progress towards their therapeutic goals.
  • Collaborate with the occupational therapist to develop tailored treatment plans and interventions designed for pediatric clients in their home environments.
  • Assist children and adolescents in performing therapeutic exercises and activities to improve their functional abilities.
  • Support patients with activities of daily living such as grooming, bathing, and dressing, adapted to a home-based care model.
  • Educate patients and their families on techniques to improve functional abilities and prevent injury, emphasizing strategies for the home setting.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of pediatric patient progress and treatment outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • At least an associate’s degree
  • One (1) full year of supervised work experience preferred
  • Licensure or certification by the state of Texas as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant.

Organizational Relationship:


The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant reports directly to the Supervising OTR.


Functional Abilities:

  • Read 12 point or larger type
  • Hear and speak in a manner understood by most people
  • Stoop and bend; must be able to lift and transfer patients
  • Must be able to operate motor vehicle and travel to prospective patient’s residences
